Our Background

Midlothian Aquatic Survival Training

"As a Marine with multiple combat deployments to Iraq who also lived in Afghanistan for several years, my greatest fear - the thing that keeps me up at night - is the backyard pool." - Howard Bullen, Owner and Lead Instructor

Midlothian Aquatic Survival Training is a Veteran Owned Small Business offering infant and child swim lessons with a focus on survival swimming.  Like many small businesses, ours began when we could not find one to meet our needs.  As the parents of a small child with an inground swimming pool, we struggled every year to find an organization to teach our son water survival in the event of an accident.

As parents we wanted lessons that were:

  • Survival focused

  • Enjoyable for our child

  • Located in Midlothian or Chesterfield, VA

  • Accommodating of our work schedules

  • Consistently held at the same time and location each year

  • Offered Maintenance Lessons

As small business owners, we realized there must be other parents in the Midlothian and Chesterfield area facing the same struggle.  After thoroughly researching all Infant Self Rescue swimming programs, we decided that PediaSwim's curriculum and principles aligned with our goals as parents.  We made the commitment to invest back in our community by completing PediaSwim's extensive training academy in Orlando, FL and are grateful that we're able to bring survival swimming to Midlothian and Chesterfield, VA.
